We’re excited to announce the launch of a new campaign called You’ve Got People Now. The campaign features real stories and messages from Boulder’s team of Peer Recovery Specialists who inspire us everyday.
People overcome unthinkable hardships with resilience — but shouldn’t have to do it alone. That’s why Boulder’s peers are at the center of our new campaign. Rooted in the real stories of our teammates at Boulder, we hope you’ll be as moved and empowered by their stories as we are.
At Boulder, Peer Recovery Specialists build trusting connections through a blend of specialized training and personal experience. The simple act of having someone to talk to can lighten the weight we carry: providing comfort and clarity when one’s mind feels impossibly tangled.
In Peers, patients have a confidant, an expert resource, and living inspiration that lasting change is possible.
While medicine plays a key role in opioid treatment, peer support focuses on non-clinical outcomes like quality of life, community-building, and skills development that can be equally important to a patient’s success. Not everything peers do can be easily quantified, but years of research shows that peer recovery support leads to:
- Fewer ED and acute care visits (Magidson et al. 2021; Bassuk et al. 2016; Hutchison et al. 2023)
- Increased engagement with primary care (Magidson et al. 2021; Scott et al. 2020)
- Reduced return to use events (Bassuk et al. 2016; Eddie et al. 2019)
- Increased treatment retention (Giraldo et al. 2024; Scow et al. 2023)
Peers are integral to the Boulder Care model – sharing unique insights we might otherwise miss as clinicians and innovators. Together, we deepen our shared wisdom about what patients need, and build for the future of addiction medicine.
We’re deeply fortunate that peers dedicate their talents to helping others – and for their support on this campaign. Peers are a positive social force in the lives of our patients, helping chip away at stigma and stereotypes that many of us internalize over a lifetime without even knowing it.
Boulder’s model is built to sustain peer work so they can focus singularly on showing up for the patient in the way they do best.
I want to thank our amazing team of peers who have gone above and beyond over the past year. They opened up and shared their stories and lives with our creative team to build a campaign that’s rooted in their stories. Boulder peers and our entire topnotch Care Team show that people recover everyday.
Together, you’re changing lives.
