Dr. Smith is Dual board certified in Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine. She attended medical school at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (now Rutgers Medical School), did her residency at Swedish Medical Center, and obtained her DATA 2000 x-waiver to prescribe buprenorphine in 2007.
Dr. Smith began her career working at a Federally Qualified Health Center in Idaho doing full-spectrum Family Medicine in a rural hospital setting. Later, she joined the Family Medicine Residency of SW Washington as faculty, continuing her work in full-spectrum Family Medicine and Obstetrics and completing a Faculty Development Fellowship at the University of Washington. Following her time in academic medicine, she joined the Primary Care workforce at Kaiser Permanente in Portland, Oregon, where she took on leadership roles in the Thriving Families service line and as a physician leader.
Dr. Smith's love of Addiction Medicine ultimately led her to complete a Fellowship in Addiction Medicine at the Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland, where she connected with Boulder Care, a digital clinic offering evidence-based, patient-centered, low-barrier addiction treatment for patients with Substance Use Disorders.
Dr. Smith was named Boulder Care’s Medical Director in 2019. In 2021, Dr. Smith joined Delta Airlines as their Director of Mental Health.
